WASTE MANAGEMENT

Battery Waste EPR Certificate

The Battery Waste EPR Certificate is an official digital certificate generated under the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022, issued through the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) EPR portal. It serves as documentary proof that a specified quantity of waste batteries has been collected, recycled, or refurbished in compliance with the prescribed environmental norms.

Under the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework, producers, importers, manufacturers, and brand owners of batteries are obligated to meet annual EPR targets based on the quantity of batteries introduced into the Indian market. To fulfill these obligations, producers must engage CPCB-authorized recyclers or refurbishers, who process waste batteries in an environmentally sound manner. Upon successful recycling or refurbishment, the recycler/refurbisher generates EPR Certificates on the CPCB portal corresponding to the quantity and category of batteries processed.

These EPR Certificates are then credited to the producer’s EPR account and can be utilized to demonstrate compliance with annual EPR targets during regulatory reporting and audits. The certificates are traceable, tradable (as per portal mechanism), time-bound, and battery-type specific, ensuring transparency and accountability across the battery lifecycle.

From a regulatory and professional standpoint, the Battery Waste EPR Certificate is a critical compliance instrument that validates environmental responsibility, legal conformity, and sustainability commitments, while helping organizations avoid penalties, environmental compensation, and enforcement actions under applicable environmental laws.

CIBRC Registration - 9(3) & 9(4)

The E-Waste EPR Certificate is an official digital compliance document issued under the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, through the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) EPR Portal. It serves as formal evidence that a specified quantity of electrical and electronic waste (e-waste) has been collected, recycled, or refurbished in accordance with prescribed environmental and regulatory standards.

Under the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework, producers of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE)—including manufacturers, importers, and brand owners—are legally obligated to ensure environmentally sound management of e-waste generated from their products. Producers must register on the CPCB portal, declare products placed in the market, and meet annual EPR targets based on notified product categories.

CPCB-authorized recyclers and refurbishers process e-waste as per approved norms and, upon completion, generate E-Waste EPR Certificates on the portal corresponding to the quantity of e-waste recycled or refurbished. These certificates are then credited to the producer’s EPR account and are used to offset EPR obligations during compliance reporting. The certificates are digitally traceable, category-specific, year-specific, and subject to regulatory verification.

From a professional and regulatory perspective, the E-Waste EPR Certificate is a critical compliance instrument that ensures environmental protection, traceability of waste streams, legal conformity, and accountability of producers, while helping organizations avoid penalties, environmental compensation, and enforcement action by regulatory authorities.

A) Fertilizers

Fertilisers are substances used or intended for use in soil or crops, as specified under the Fertiliser (Control) Order, 1985 (FCO). This includes chemical fertilisers, fertiliser mixtures and special mixtures, provisional and customised fertilisers, as well as bio-fertilisers and organic fertilisers listed under Schedule I to VI.

The manufacture, import, and sale of fertilisers in India are regulated by the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. Fertilisers are declared essential commodities under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, ensuring food security, quality standards, and protection for farmers and consumers. The FCO defines approved substances, product specifications, sampling procedures, and the process for obtaining manufacturer or dealer licenses.

Enforcement of the FCO is primarily the responsibility of State Governments, while the Central Government provides technical guidance, training, and periodic inspections of manufacturing units and distribution networks. Fertiliser licensing is issued at the state level, ensuring effective regulatory oversight and compliance throughout the country.

Waste Tyres EPR Certificate

The Waste Tyres EPR Certificate in India is a mandatory digital compliance certificate issued under the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016, as amended to include Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for Waste Tyres, and implemented through the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) EPR Portal. It serves as official proof that a specified quantity of waste tyres has been collected and processed in an environmentally sound manner.

Under the EPR framework, producers of tyres—including manufacturers and importers of new tyres—are required to register on the CPCB portal, declare the quantity of tyres placed in the Indian market, and meet annual EPR obligations equivalent to their market introduction. Compliance must be fulfilled through CPCB-registered waste tyre processors such as recyclers, retreaders, and pyrolysis units operating as per approved environmental norms.

After processing waste tyres, authorized processors generate Waste Tyres EPR Certificates on the CPCB portal corresponding to the quantity and method of processing. These certificates are credited to the producer’s EPR account and used to offset annual EPR liabilities. The certificates are digitally traceable, quantity-linked, year-specific, and subject to regulatory verification.

Professionally, the Waste Tyres EPR Certificate ensures legal compliance, traceability of tyre waste, environmental protection, and promotion of circular economy practices, while helping producers avoid environmental compensation, penalties, and enforcement actions, and demonstrating responsible waste management in India.
